In this recipe, the brown sugar helps balance the acidity of the vinegar while contributing a subtle molasses flavour to enhance the depth of the dressing. Drizzle over your favourite salad greens! Makes 1 cup of dressing.
Ingredients
Balsamic vinegar | 1/4 cup (60 mL) |
Brown sugar | 2 tsp (10 mL) |
Garlic, minced | 1 tbsp (15 mL) |
Salt | 1/2 tsp (2 mL) |
Black pepper | 1/2 tsp (2 mL) |
Olive oil | 3/4 cup (175 mL) |
Instructions
- Beat the vinegar in a bowl with the sugar, garlic, salt and pepper until sugar and salt dissolve.
- Then beat in the oil by droplets, whisking constantly (or combine all ingredients in a screw-top jar and shake well).
- Taste and adjust the seasonings.
